First Post

I started this blog to chronicle the "journey of my life," as much as that statement sort of makes me want to barf.

I know one day when I am older I will look back on these days with fondness and perhaps want to go back there. I want to avoid having that rose colored look at the past -- hopefully that will help me appreciate the here and now more.

Right now, I'm on the brink of a career change and in the past year of my life, everything has changed. Not one damn thing about my life is the same now as it was last year at this time. Except my job. And within days or weeks, that will change too (keeping my fingers crossed, anyway).

I've lost 50 lbs. I've started living with someone. I've become more prudent about money, by necessity. I've had my first real health scares, which have turned out to be minor things, thankfully.

At this juncture of my life, I'm learning every day that the only things that don't change are death and taxes, thus the name of this blog!

I'll be chronicling all the happenings in my life. Expect to hear a lot about school, hiking, ways to save money, and other assorted detritus. Don't expect many posts about death and taxes. :-)
